SPS (Small Polyp Stony)

Small polyp stony, or SPS, corals are corals with a relatively smaller polyp size typically complementing smaller corallites. Most of these corals are recognized by their very rigid calcium carbonate structure and minimal “fleshy” look. SPS corals tend to be much faster growing corals than their large polyp stony, or LPS, counterpart.
